Here are some of the major factors in choosing a concrete mixer. There are three main methods for choosing concrete mixers, namely, selection according to engineering quantity and construction period, selection of concrete type according to design, selection of composition characteristics and consistency of concrete.
 
1. Select according to engineering quantity and construction period requirements
Medium-sized or large-scale fixed concrete mixers or batching plants should be used when the amount of concrete works is large and the construction period is long. If the amount of concrete works is small and the construction period is short, the small and medium-sized concrete mixer should be used.
2. Select according to the designed concrete type
When the mixed concrete is plastic or semi-plastic, a self-propelled concrete mixer should be used. If the concrete is high-strength, dry-hard or lightweight concrete, a forced concrete mixer should be used.
3. Select according to the composition characteristics and consistency of concrete
If the consistency of the agitated concrete is small and the aggregate size is large, a self-propelled concrete mixer with large capacity should be selected. If the concrete is with large consistency and large aggregate size, a self-propelled mixer with fast mixing drum rotation speed should be used. If the concrete consistency is large and the aggregate particle size is small, a forced concrete mixer or medium and small capacity conical reversal discharge concrete mixer should be used.
